I went back to Chase County, Kansas to revisit my favorite speed shop, S.E. Schroer & Co, in downtown Strong City, heart of the Flint Hills. The Plymouth and the 5-window roadster were featured in a post last week. This week I heard them fire up and saw Señor Schroer hurtling around town in the roadster, which is a speed machine. He is a man with a powerful aesthetic, which you see in his cars and in his shop, where there are some intriguing works-in-progress.
Man, I wish I was driving the Plymouth back to Maine...

The Speed Shop is a pure piece of true Americana! The owner is right out of the film "Two Lane Blacktop"....cool guy, cool place!
